AMD64Bit 3500+ Venice core 939
2 x 512mb geil 3200 ram
2 x 256 xms corsair 3200 ram
Asus 939s56-m mobo

I want to improve performance and any ideas would be helpful as ive tried to increase the cpu by the mulitplier but it seems to be locked at 1.45v and 12x200. :-( So seems it needs altering through a program on windows but i would appreciate some help on that and i.e. the ram and my graphics card, as i have a program for my cpu but dont know the limits i should go to!

Here's some tips:

============================================
MSCONFIG (when used with the RUN command) opens up the System Configuration Utility. Most of the stuff in there you don't want to mess with unless you know what you are doing or have detailed instructions.

Click the STARTUP tab. The list that it pulls up is everything that you can choose to start up when Windows does.

Why is all of this stuff in the list? Because every program designer thinks his 'creation' is so indispensible that no one could possibly want it to NOT start up with their computer (yeah, right), so they set it into the list and have it to do just that.

Once you're at the list, look it over and see what all has a check mark. Every program that does starts up when Windows loads... EVERYTIME!

If something is checked, but you don't know what it is, Google it and find out.

Once you have seen what is there, uncheck everything that you don't need or want. Keep your firewall, antivirus, broadband drivers, graphics drivers, whatever you absolutely have to have, but uncheck everythign else.

Once you are done, click APPLY, OK, then reboot.

When your computer starts up, you'll get a grey box about the System Configuration Utility. Check the box about 'Don't run on startup' then OK.

If you had a lot of stuff checked, then your comp ought to start up faster and run more stable.

Do an online virus scan to make sure you don't have any bugs running around.

Try those and see if that doesn't help your performance.

Hi there, thanks for the reply but i think youve misunderstood my help!

i am fairly good with running my computer and i know how to run it but i mean how to config it by overclocking it or setting to peak performance, i.e. overclocking my cpu, ram, graphics card. i see posts regarding overclocking but its a bit overwhelming sometimes and said in original post, multiplyin is locked, so i need some help

any more help pls???

look through the overclocking guide

go through your bios and chage your fsb/ht, and when you overclock turn your hypertransport to 4x, and you'll have to run a ram divider with what you have, so look for your ram settings and change it to 1:2 or something of the sort (ddr133 or something like that)

Hi thanks for the help,

i have changed the cpu freq from 200 to 215 in increments and its now 10% o/c. I tried it for errors for 10 hours with now probs. I have taken pic of by bios screen for cpu config, if any1 wouldnt mind takin a look and givin me sum feedback, i put cas to 2.5 as it was laggin abit (and its set to ddr400 200mhz). Is this ok, or shud i be pushin more or less and stayin on sync or async? lol im clueless! :amazed:
