but some of my frinds recomended hp pavilion d1000y with p4 ht 3.20 GHz 800 MHz FSB,1GB ddr2 pc2-3200(2dimm),256 Mb ATI Radeon x600 pro...which costs $1600 or the compaq GX510T with p4 3.20 GHz 800mhZ FSB,1GB ddr2 pc2-3200(2dimm),256 Mb ATI
Radeon x600 pro for $1909...but for some resone i think building a computer will be cheaper and better..what do you think....which one is better ...or should i build my own,if so can you recomend which parts should i get ....for a good computer ..i have $2000 to spend but cheaper would be better.....

You will save money and have a way better computer. 2,000 is a nice chunk of pocket change to get started on a nice computer. But like you said cheaper is better. You can match that compaq you listed for about $1000 maybe cheaper (excluding the monitor)

This list should suit your needs for 3-D modeling and gaming.

Case $115
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...133-132&DEPA=1

Power Supply $65
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...163-104&depa=1

Motherboard $125
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...180-063&depa=1

CPU $280
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...116-182&depa=1

Video Card $389
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...131-295&depa=1

Ram $356
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...141-182&depa=1

Hard Drive $99.50
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...152-015&depa=1

Optical $90
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...131-236&DEPA=1

Total Cost $1,520 This config blows away that compaq. Also it is cheaper too. This is good for games and 3-D appz. AMD is recommended for gaming, but for cpu intensive programs Intel is the choice. But this config should give you excellent performance on high detail settings with new games like Half life 2 or doom 3........

sry uzi i have to disagree wit you. AMD owns intels for gaming but intels only just beat AMDs for modelling so i would definatly go with a AMD try this one

Case $115
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...133-132&DEPA=1

PSU $110
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...103-910&depa=0

Motherboard $116
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...128-263&depa=1

CPU $297
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProduc...factory=BROWSE

Heatsink $65
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...109-118&depa=0

Video Card $388
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProduc...factory=BROWSE

RAM $220
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...145-500&depa=1 (two sets)

Hard Drive $110
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...148-018&depa=1

Optical $90
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...131-236&DEPA=1

total $1732.47 before tax. Im from the UK so i dont know wat tax is like over there, but i think that this sytem would beat the P4 system, If u wanna save abit money drop teh 3500 cpu for a 3200 and overclock it that heatsink is very good so will let you get upto abotu 2.6 easy.
