Need a quick bit of help?

There is something in my case that's making like a highpitched noise, like a whistle of somesort. I wanna get rid of it so I can sleep at night with my computer on. What would you guys suggest doing, just opening it up and listening around to see what it is? I'm assuming it is one of the fans but who knows.

Yeah... open it up and you most likely should be able to figure out what exactly is making the noise.

If you cant really put your finger (or ear in this case) on it, then you could start removing parts to eliminate, one by one, to see which it is. Do this, of course, while the computer is turned off.

Its most likely a fan but could be a hard drive or Optical drive.

If it is a harddrive what do I do, either deal with it or scrap it?

It could be the PSU under extremly heavy loads.

i think that might possibly be it which is gonna be another 50 bucks down the drain. ill open it up im hoping it's going to be something stupid like my harddrive fan.

could be ur cpu fan under a load mine sits at 3000rpms and when it gets up too 4500rpms its makes a hight pitched noise soo it could be that

Maybe, how could I find out how fast my cpu fan is running?
