The older AMD Athlon processors will run VERY hot compared to modern AMD Athlon processors.

He's running an Athlon XP. 52C is not overheating, since the max temp for XPs are 95C, according to AMD's website.

50*F is very low, so I'd assume he means celcious.

yup, then we can all agree its narrowed down to either psu or spyware/norton. run spysweeper or adaware removing any spyware/adware. If that doesnt solve it remove norton. If that doesnt solve it, try a fresh install of windows. if ALL of that doesnt help, try a different and better psu.
