Unhappy need advice on computer specs

I need help with laptop specs. What is a better [ battery life, performance] , and what would last me longer [ so i dont have to upgrade too much]

notebook 1.
-processor : amd athalon 64 37006+ , 1mb l2 cache
-screen : 15.4" WXGA wide screen
-ram : 1gig 333mhz ram
-hard drive : Seagate Momentus 5400 100gig hd
- video card : ATI Mobile Radeon 9700, 128MB
-dvd : 8x dvd/rw
- battery : 8 Cell Li-ion 4000mAH

notebook 2.
- processor : intel centrino 1.86ghz , 533mhz fsb,2mb cache
-screen : 15.4 wsxga 1680 x 1050 wide screen
-ram : 2048mb, pc-4200, ddr 2 533mhz
-hard drive : 80 gig 5400 rmp hd
-video card : nvidia geforce go 6600, 128mb, 16x pci express
-dvd : 8x dvd/rw
-cd : 24x cdrw
-battery : 8 cell li-ion

2nd one is better but at what cost?

and u know how hard it is to upgrade a notebook apart from ram??

first computer is an abs mayhem g3 [ it is 3700+ sry]-$1,938.99 [the way ive configured it]

the second computer is a vicious pc Daimyo- $2,108.00 [ the way ive configured it]

well the second is better and not that much more expensive. so just take off the 2gig ram and have 1gig and then you should have about even

i am willing to spend the extra money for the ram [ i play games, and use photoshop and things like that ] but only if it would improve perfomance... would it?

as far as i know 1 gig is more than enough

for example when i play doom3 at ulta settings my total ram usage is 870 or so

ps what exactly is the difference between a centrino processor and an amd 64 , i know that one is 32 bits and the other is 64 bits but whats the difference performance wise

you can get a dell or ibuypower for a little more with the go6800
