Default My Rig (Doomed be the 56K)

***************************

I'm making this thread more so as a reference for myself, or a log/journal of sorts. It's also a way of sharing my results with my rig in overclocking and benching with you guys (if any of you care, lol). It's the first computer I actually built and even the first time I overclocked, so this seems somewhat neccesary to me (and exciting). It'd be great too if you guys can share some advice as to how I can improve performance.

***************************

Stock Specs:
Intel C2D E2160 @ 1.8GHz w/ stock fan
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L
2GB OCZ Platinum Revision 2 PC2-6400
Sapphire 256MB x1950GT (500/600)
Thermaltake TR2-430W
NZXT Apollo ATX Case

The build cost me about $590 (CDN) with the MIR on the ram. Right after the build, I was playing Bioshock on maxed settings (in DX9 though) and some other pretty PC-intensive games. I was happy with that much. I built my PC maybe a week and a half ago, and it's been sitting on stock specs for too long, so last night I did some overclocking.

I ran some benches before tweaking anything, just so I can see what kind of performance difference I'm getting. Some of the benches are weird (3DMark01 and 2000...), I know, but it's all I really have access to and I had plenty of time, and I was curious to see what kind of result I'd get with hardware overkill on almost 8 year old benchmarks So here goes:

CPU-Z Specs

ATI Tool

SiSoftware Sandra
(That P4 was my old processor, that's why it's in the bench)

3DMark 2000

3DMark01

3DMark05

3DMark06

Company of Heroes Performance Test

Counter-Strike: Source Stress Test
Video Settings: 1280x1024, All Details HIGH, 16xA, 6xMSAA, HDR Full, VSync and Color Correction OFF.
Average FPS: 115.84

Overclocking's coming in the next post, will update probably in the afternoon.

oh and here's some pics from the wire-management thread:

Alright, as for the overclocking, I decided to take a stab at it last night and I'm quite happy with the results. The advanced overclocking options are activated with the Cntrl-F1. I set the FSB from 200 to 333 with the default/max E2160 multiplier of x9. Anything higher than 333 would have the rated FSB past 1333, which would make it quite unstable, I think anyway. That's a plus of 1200MHz, a total of 3.0GHz from the initial 1.8GHz, I tightened the RAM timings to 4-4-4-12 and set the FSB:RAM ratio to 1:1, making the memory frequency 667MHz. With stock cooling, I was able to run Orthos for 8 hours before I stopped it manually. 8 hours is enough for me, and I'll know for sure if my system is unstable when my comp shuts down randomly. As for the X1950GT, I was able to bring it really close to stock X1950PRO speeds, from 500/600 to 580/675. I used the ATI Overdrive tool instead of ATI tool because it seems to do a better job of attaining those speeds, not sure why. I'm using ATITool to control the fan speed. Here are some post-overclock benchmarks:
