Default MSI on 8.1

Wasn't sure where to post this question so apologies if it's in the wrong place.

I was wondering if MSI afterburner works on win8.1? It's a laptop and the gpu is a GTX 760M.

If not, are there any programes similar to it that people can recommend?

Thank you.

Yes it runs on Windows 8.1, but I don't recommend trying to overclock your laptop GPU at all.

The MSI have a fan boost button, so overclocking for gaming and using the fan boost, it will be just fine.

I've bumped my 770m ~100mhz and heat was maybe 2 degrees.

And I would consider you experienced enough to know not to push it too far. Idk this person, so just being precautious.

Thanks. Just wanted it for fan control.

One more thing. I tried it out and when I drag it around the screen it's really laggy and slow. Any ideas?

Ok, this is strange. I installed it on 8.1 and the fan speeds/auto/user define are all greyed out and inaccesible. There is also no 'fan' tab in settings.

Anybody have any idea?

Your fan is locked by the manufacturer of the laptop then.

As P said, fans are locked.

You may have some success using hwinfo64. If I disable ec support, I can control my laptops fans.

I wonder if that'll work on my Toshiba. Gonna try it.

As you can see, my 3 fans are control able

Notice how 1 fan is 1700 and the other is 3300.
