If I ONLY replace my MB and CPU, would I be able to just hit the power afterward and the harddrive will recognize everything?

Looking for a little help.

ALWAYS go with a clean reformat and install of your OS when replacing a mobo. your computer will love you all the more for it.

So this reformatting takes place BEFORE I shut it down and install the new mobo? or after? Bear with me :)

If your new mobo runs on a different chipset (EX: Via KT400 to an NF2 Ultra 400) you HAVE to reinstall OS. The OS is built around the chipset "kernel" information and switching brands/types/features will make OS fail. If the Chipset is the same and the mobo has basically the same features it should be OK. But i advise a reformat anyways...a fresh start is always nice:)
