Monitor overriding

I think this belongs here, but not 100%. My monitor is at 85Hz when at desktop, but when playing counter-strike it's stuck at 60hz. I used some software to fix this like 4 years ago but I just started playing again and forgot it. I'd like it to be 100hz. Any recommendations?

chances are unless it is made to run at 100hz it won't. you may be able to set the refresh rate using the drivers for your video card.

what video card do you have?

in "Rivatuner" you can definatly override refresh rates. i think the ATi catalysts let you force refresh rates as well.

i doubt you will get an 85Hz monitor going at 100Hz though...

It can actually go up to 100hz if I unselect "hide modes that this monitor cannot display" but I'm not sure if that's safe.

I've got an e-Geforce 7600 GS (just bought it a couple days ago). I've got the latest driver from the nvidia website, but looking at the software I can't find anything that'll fix my problem. I'm sure there's a third-party program that'll do it if necessary..
