Default Max overclock - GTX 260 865/1865/1500

I run 865/1865/1500 at about 54C. These are the max settings in rivatuner..

To overclock more, would I need to do a pencil mod? If she can run this at 4 degrees over idle, im sure it can run more. Didnt lag or die once, just kept goin up when I hit apply. Avg fps in atitools is 160 with my noticed peak of 196.

I have a couple 120mm fans cooling this, and the fan is on auto, not tweaked. It usually runs 40% on auto/idle

Any ideas?

Use ATiTool... (it works with nVidia cards too)

and don't go too far by getting selfish about the card's overclocking ability.. I've known many a people who've done it

When i had the 9800gtx+ it always froze up or grey-screened when I overclocked. In rivatuner it would just freeze up. Will atitool overclock higher than rivatuner? Overclocking wont kill the card though will it? If I go too high it will just freeze and i can restart, right? just dont wanna fry anything lol

yes it will just restart, and if u got a good card overclocking is covered in the warrenty, as long as u registered it. and +1 for ati tool

And what does scanning for artifacts do in atitool? On my first hour with the card I played crysis on the stock clocks and 45min into it I started getting artifacts. so is this somethin I should take care of or no

Ya you should take care of it. I believe it just shows if the card is erroring at all and so it doesn't happen in game.

your clocks are not being set for some reason.

theres no way a card can do those clocks at stock. load up GPU-Z and you'll see they haven't changed

Im pretty sure 865 core is way too high....stop and take a moment to make sure you know what you are doing. I dont think you want to kill the card, and artifacts are bad....that means youve puished your card too far!

I have a question, how far can I set my 280gtx? it maxed out on 765.00 (core)....

GPUZ says default is 602mhz (core) 1107 (memory)

This is a snip off the memory test log so far.
