Right heres my hardware:
Pentium4 2.8ghz chip (533 fsb)
512mb 2700 ddr ram (166mhz)
Kobian/Mercury mobo supporting up to 800 fsb
thats all you need to know at mo
Right, I build my pc up. Bios is set to automatically detect frequencies.
So I switch on to find the processor is detected as 2800mhz, but set to 1600.
I also found using a detection program that the computer sees the multiplyer as 21 but is set back to 12 almost instantly after power on (maybe the bios itself?)
Anyway assuming I cant change the clock multiplyer I upped the fsb to 800 (The mobo supports 800, the processor does 533) and the ram still at 166. Its at 2.4 ghz and working ok.
Now I need help on getting the extra 400 megahurts.
If i take the fsb up any more my bios has to be rest (800 is the limit) so Im assuming I have to take the memory (166mhz) up a little but im thinking that will force me to reset the bios too.
Will increasing the dimm voltage or whatever prevent the blackscreen (which means u gotta reset bios) from happening? Ive ehard you have to increase voltage so it might be worth a shot.
Im nearly there with this processor and with my new cooliung solution it seems like a good time to solve it once and for all.
