I have an intel i5-3470 and i am running windows 7 ultimate. I think my cpu may be overheating, at idle the temperature is fine (70-80 F)but when i play a computer game for a couple hours the cpu gets to (100-110 F) this is too hot for this cpu correct?

Try reapplying thermal paste, Arctic Silver is pretty cheap. Maybe you didn't use enough.

How many fans do you have? And where are they?

I didnt do anything. Its a computer off new egg. I have some arctic silver lying around so ill try that. Before i apply some, is there such thing as applying too much paste?

If you apply too much, it would spread off the processor when reseating the heatsink So try to keep it evenly spread out and a decent thickness.

Nooooo those temps are fine. Matt, try to realize in what system the people post. 100F is 37C. Perfectly fine, and well below average for a load temp on a quad.
