Default I7 950 OC question

Hi, I currently have not overclocked my 950 and was wondering if overclocking it would help my performance in games. I'm asking this because I noticed that while playing games (BFBC2, Crysis) the task manager says that my CPU usage is only 30-40%. I'm pretty noob with overclocking and I'm not sure if overclocking would help at all or if I should just wait a while and OC when more demanding games come out, thanks.

Well, games only use 2o4 cores usually. But it uses thosehs cores at max. So 2 cores at 3.06 vs 3.8 would give a boost.

It was pretty easy getting to 3.8Ghz on my 950, not bad at 4, but after that i heat up.

I'd read Slaymates guide to i7 overclocking.

Thanks for the link but I'd still like to know if I could expect to see a noticeable performance increase in games if I were to OC to maybe 3.8Ghz or if it would be negligible.

You'll see an improvement... Its half a gig in speed. Boththose games are cpu intensive.

Remember 40% of an i7 is technically 4 out of 8 cores...but really almost all your cpu physical cores
