Default I want to upgrade my Dell 4600.

I have a Dell 4600 that I want to upgrade for a little more gaming performance.

System specs:

2.4 Intel P4
512 DDR 400
128 MB NVidia GeForce FX 5200
Integrated Audio

What are some good parts I could upgrade for around $500?

Thanx

I wouldn't spend $500. Just get another 512 stick of Ram and get a 6600GT. No reason to put to much money into it. Those two things would dramatically increase your gaming performance.

Thanks for the quick response and apparently saving me some cash...LOL.

BTW, I have four memory slots on my motherboard with two being used by 256MB sticks of dual channel DDR 400(I think). Can I just add a 512MB stick in the third? Also, what is a good brand of memory to go with?

hmmm...you sure its dual channel? Run cpu-z and check the memory tab, it will tell you if it is running in dual channel or not. If so, you will want to get two 256 chips to keep it running in dual channel mode.

Yep, it's dual channel.

So if I get two 256's and plop them right in I should be fine?
