there's also the CPU's to take into account. With the same CPU, a video card that has double the power won't actually double the score.

But then, there will be new CPU's to look forward to.

yup. Apparently, current CPU's bottleneck the 8800's even. This includes C2D's.

Basically, I heard that the GPU's are so powerful that they usually keep having to wait for the CPU before they can render the next frame.

hey what the **** i have 8800 gts and a core 2 duo and how can you get 10k? i onyl got 8720 marks

RAM: 2 Kingston HyperX DDR2 800MHz (4GB total)
CPU: Core 2 Duo E6320 @variable rates (will fix my fan problem soon and overclock high again)
HSF: Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme & Antec Tricool 120mm fan
PSU: Delta Serverpower 550W
HD: Seagate 400GB ST340032AS & Excelstor 80GB (both SATA)
Case: don't know what case it is but it is very crappy
Optical Drive: Lite-on 16X DVD+&- RW DL (died) using a CD-ROM drive until I get a new blu ray burner or whatever i can get

lol i beat that with my 3600 and sli 7900gs.
but currently, i do run my 3600 overclocked to 2.6ghz
