ok so i have some 300 400 and 1200 grit paper will this be enought to lapp, im guessing use the 400 to get all the tin off, then finish it off with some water and 1200 on a glass table or glass sheet. please tell me this will be enough.

I'd say 800 would be helpful as well... although that is as veedub mentioned, more so for shine

and why are you wet sanding? water + chip is bad?

dry sanding should be perfectly fine... oh and what about 1500 or 2000 grit for superior shine?

Wet sanding provides a much smoother finish than dry sanding. Also wet sanding is a necessity with high grit sandpaper. Basically 600 and up otherwise the paper gets clogged with particles.
