Default How much longer will the opterons last

Everyones been talking about the s939 opterons are going fast and they are starting to dissapear can anyone confirm this pleez because im getting concerned that i won't get a 165 before they stop making them

Dont worry you will, it was a rumor they were going to discontinue the s939 opterons but they are still out there. And if you need one you can always buy my 170

i don't see them dying anytime soon... this am2 is gonna be socket 940 was it?? i don't see this am2 being much better.. so imo, its gonna be a while.. ddr2 jump.. i'm hoping its more than that though....

I'm pretty sure 940 and AM2 are 2 different kinds.....because 940 is already out...some opterons i think

ya, 940 is on server opterons n such.. but i've read somewhere they're using a different structured 940, the old 940's won't fit on these new mobo's i'll be back with a link when i edit this post

i give s939 at least another 3 years of life. it just won't have new cpu's developed for it unless they a)backport cpu's like they did to s754 or b)adopt it as the new sempron platform. i think b is probably more likely although they may port a few processors back. s754 isn't dead yet and even socket A still lingers. s939 will not just vanish.
