Ok this may be a stupid question to some people, but i was wondering if i got me some PC4000 memory and put it in my motherboard if the motherboard would underclock it to the pc3200 speeds since the board says that its max supported is pc3200...... Dont ask why im doing this just give me a simple yes or no or the board wont work right with it or something lol.....

Motherboard: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1173590&CatId=1190
Memory id like:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227206
(not in the best of moods right now so dont be a smart ass)

all new motherboards that support DDR1 will say pc 3200 because anything higher then that goes above the specs of the cpu. So yes if you were to buy pc 4000 ram, it would run at ddr400 until u bumped it to 250 FSB manually.

doesn't matter how fast your processor is if you don't know how to adjust the HTT and whatnot.

But just for an example...say your CPU was 2.5GHz

by stock it was 200x12.5 = 2.5GHz

That would be slower than

250x10 in which the 250MHz would be 1:1 with PC4000....so yeah the clock speed would be the same but you'd have much larger memory bandwidth which = better performance overall

You seriously confused me >_< use mine as an example lol

stock its 200x9=1800 >_< so umm hmm??? yea >_< i finaly get money and i forget everything lol

EDIT: Right now the cpu is at 256X9 runs for 7 hours stable in prime 95........

lets just leave it at if you put anything above pc 3200 in your board, its going to run at pc 3200 because thats the default speeds of the cpu, if you want it to run higher then you have to o.c it manually.
