Help OCing Phen II 965

I manged to get my 965 to 3.8ghz stable by just increasing the multiplier and leaving ram settings all auto but is there any way that I could overclock to get 3.8hgz and leave my ram settings at 1600mhz CL8? (that's the normal supported speed of the ram but I have to manually set it in BIOS). If I leave those ram settings to what I have now and increase the multi then I get blue screen because of the ram, so wondering if I can increase the cpu clock speed without affecting the current ram config... specs are in sig. EDIT - Can't see them in the sig so Phen II 965 (C2), Crosshair III formula, 8gb Corsair DDR3 1600mhz CL8, Corsair 850HX
