Help on Cooling?

I'm a first time builder and i'm reading alot about heat problems from other members systems. I'm thinking about going with an asus mobo P4C800C w/ P4 3.2 or 3.4Ghz processor.If i need a fan or some kind of heatsink as they seem to be called around here, what will i possibly need or what are my options.

depends... If you aren't into overclocking, then you will probably be just fine w/ the stock fan, since Intel usually has decent stock fans. Be sure that you buy a retail processor though if you want a stock fan w/ it.
on the other hand, if you want to overclock, or are just worried about heat, then buy a decent heatsink to fit your processor. If you do this, buy your processor OEM and save the money, since the only thing extra you get from retail is the stock fan, and maybe a warranty. If you are going to OC, your warranty is useless anyway.

Actually i am interested in oc even though i admit i've never tried it which is why i want to keep it cool.Everybody makes it sound so easy even though i guess theres some risk involved.thanks again.

also is having an additional cooling accessories the only way you can read your cpu or other components temperatures

nope. download motherboard monitor 5, great for monitoring cpu temp, case temp, etc, provided your motherboard has the necessary sensors on it, which most do.
