Default Is it hard to build a custom laptop?

Hello everyone!
Now that my desktop is done, all fine and dandy, I have to think about a laptop that I will need to get in near future for college (computer science of course ). Is building custom laptop as fun, enjoyable and doable as building a desktop? I'm asking since obviously the components are different and I never seen any standalone cases for laptops for sale for some reason.
Thanks very much!

Not according to the System Builder video at the Synnex Corporation. They say it can be done in less than 10 mins. http://www.synnex.com/sb/sb_byon.html Liz

Is it at least possible to buy a "barebone" for a laptop? Like a combo with a case and few base components.

I would imagine that building a laptop would be very expensive.

Dan, actually they aren't as expensive as you would think. Liz

and by expensive i think he meant for the average person. also your really not building it your just putting the only components that will fit into a prebuild half assembled case not fun..... just buy a nice one and save yourself the trouble
