sorry im kinda new to the whole computer building but what are some of the most common graphics cards and their prices.
please list rough prices and fps on hl2

You will be fine whether you get thie 6800GT or 6600GT. The 6800GT is much faster though, so you will be more future proof. The 6600GT still beats some of ATI's top cards though.

The 6600GT is cheaper has sli caperbilities and all the features of the 6800 series but is slower as its only got a 128bit bus, 128mb mem, and 8/12 pipelines (can't remember but i think 8)

You can't simply list how well a card will do in a game man.

It also depends on your processor, amount of RAM, timings of RAM, and things like that

Exactly. Poison, what is your price range on a new computer (assuming you haven't actually built/bought the thing yet)?

A high-end graphics card ideally needs to be paired up with a decent CPU, MoBo and RAM (and your monitor really needs to be able to support resolutions of 1280x1024- and above even- to enjoy what the card has to offer :) ).

With that hardware get a PCI-E 6800GT as it is better than or equal to dual 6600GT's. Yes it's more $$ but if you spend good cash on other parts the videocard should be as good. Also later on you could get a 2nd 6800GT, that's just nasty.
