Default get a new ssd?

I was debating on whether or not to buy a ssd I found on newegg during the black friday sale.

Newegg.com - OCZ Vertex Series OCZSSD2-1VTX30G 2.5" 30GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid state disk (SSD) - Solid State Disks

I have never bought a new hard drive after building a computer. So would all I have to do is load my os to the ssd?

Are you going to be using Windows 7? If so you'll want to make sure the drive has firmware 1.4 which supports the Trim Function.

For the other OS's you'll want to use Firmware 1.41 which supports the Garbage Collection Feature. Here's a link for you to read

yes windows 7 will be my os.. also how would I go about removing my os from my current 640 gb hard drive so that I could leave more space or is that not possible without reformatting the whole disk?

I'm sure it's possible but I've never tried. I'm more of a backup my important files and reformat
