genuinely silent fane

hi, can anyone recomend me some good 80 and 120mm case fans, ive gone through so many different ones claiming to be silent, but i can still hear them, so any sugestions?

fan controller + lower rpm's = your friend.

I'm sorry to say I don't know of any good silent fans. How about modding one of those mini "ionic breeze" things to act as an intake, or two side by side in the front panel might push some air. I don't know what their cubic feet/minute is but they are silent!

A 'Genuinely' silent fan is impossible. (sorry but that is one thing that i see allot of in the computer industry that really irritates me, for example I see HSFs described as 'ultra silent' and PSUs 'very silent')- something is either silent or not.

For quiet fans, look into the Scythe S-Flex series. The new Silverstone one looks pretty good as well.

agreed, its really annoying when the claim its silent, but i can hear it buzzing away, i know i can get nearly inaudible cos my seasonic psu is acually silent, dunno how it has a fan, i think a controller may be my only option

well silent doesn't actually mean no sound, it means that the fan/psu is inaudible from regular distances (ie. you can't hear it sitting at your desk)

I recently got some Cooler Master 120mm 19dBA fans, which are basically inaudible over all my other hardware.

Not all of Cooler Master's 120mm fans are 19dBA though, some are 21-22-23dBA

That ionic breeze mod claims almost 200cfm. and it doesn't make any noise.
