Hey guys. First time I visited this forum I didn't know s*it about building a computer, but I've learned a lot for the 3 months I've been here, I still don't know that much and I'd like your help/advice on my first comp that I'll actually get a chance to build on my own. My budget is $1500 and the comp will be mostly used for gaming. Here is what I got so far, if you see any incompatibility wherever please feel free to change it. Thx a lot.

Did I miss anything? Is everything compatible? Any opinions/suggestions?
Really appreciate it, thx.

That's an amazing system

However if you plan on overclocking, I would spend 70$ more on 2x G. Skill ram's that will OC alot nicer

As you know, the Raptor is nice, but not a nessicity :)

Pretty nice setup. I agree with DJ, better ram IF you plan on overclocking, you have the mobo and processor for it. All you would need is better ram and a better CPU heatsink. I would get 2 80gb drives and RAID 0 them which will be cheaper and faster than the 10k drive plus more storage.

And do you really need SLI?

Cut back on the SLI and just get ultra, and cut back on the hard drive and use that money towards better ram and a good heatsink so you have the option of overclocking if you decide to.

The video card is AGP and the mobo is PCI-E, so change that. I would just make one switch as others have said.

Get a 6800GT, rather than the Ultra (make sure its PCI-E if you stick with that mobo!). You can easily OC it to the Ultra speeds.

Spend the money you saved on the video card on better RAM.

EASY! :D

yes definitely get the GT over the Ultra its a waste of money to get the Ultra, it has a rediculously large cooler as well, GT overclocked a little will be just as good as an Ultra, thats exactly what I've done with my card. my friend has that same ram I think it is very nice ram the cas 2.5 is good enough to oc with. the difference between 2 and 2.5 is very very subtle when doing benchmarks.

Oh my, i forgot that, it's an AGP you do need PCI-E

Getting a GT isnt a bad idea either, as the money can have better uses, and overclocking a GT is easy.

From my own personal experience with Raptors on raid0, if your looking for all around system speed, and if you have the cash. Get the Raptors running on raid0.

You havent mentioned if your going to OC, which this would be very important for your hardware. Either way, im down with the Raptors on raid0, you just cant beat the full system speed you gain from these.

How about this:
DFI "LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D" NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra Chipset Motherboard For AMD Socket 939 CPU -RETAIL
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-136-152&depa=0
Instead of the SLI board and:
eVGA nVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT Video Card, 256MB GDDR3, 256-Bit, Dual DVI/TV-Out, PCI-Express, Model "256-P2-N376-AX" -RETAIL
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-130-215&depa=0

And yes I'm planing on OCing this bad boy ;) but not yet, in like a few months.

I suggest G Skill PC3200 RAM. Which 512mb x2 will cost you a good 300$. I also suggest OCZ Platinum Rev 512mb x2 PC3200. I have this OCZ Platinum Rev 512mb x2 PC3200 RAM. Its one of the best OC RAM out there. I have pushed it to 234mhz, completely stable. I only suggest G Skill if your going to be doing some serious OC. Thats because its so damn expensive, which OC is really all you need it for. You can find other RAM with the same latency.
