Default game settings

i see people saying that they are running everything max on games, and running things at AA* or something.

would somebody please explain what the AA* bit is? and the other stuff, is that jsut teh settings within the games?

anything else anybody wants to share would be nice aswell.

incase anybody asks i am running,

DFi lanparty ultra-d
amd athlon 64 3700
leadtek 7800gt
0cz 2x512mb ram
stock cooling on all and someother fans in my case

AA and AF is something to smooth out the lines. aand all the jagged stuff. to make it look all smooth and pretty.

AA is Anti Aliasing, and it smooths curved edges.

AF is Anisotropic Filtering and it sharpens the blurring in the distance in games.
