P.S. his dad knows how to build them.
 
I would go for the eVGA 6800Ultra EE 2 of them and put the in SLI and get a few SCSI 320 drives instead of the slow SATA's.
 
tell him to get a soundcard your going to get those big speakers and use them on shitty onboard sound
 
I suggest watercooling (cause the fans will be LOUD) and the amd FX-55.
but really... that's a waste of money unless your friend wants to play every game at 1280 resolution, all details and 4x AA, AF - ask him to save a few bucks on upgradeable parts and donate a to charity.

there is no sli mobo on the market yet, only one close to release is the A8N-SLI Deluxe buy yes i agree SLI is the shiznid, and if hes rich y not the FX55???? cmon now
