I'm helping someone build a pc.
he came to me with everything set up but the floppy wasn't working (wouldn't light up or anything) so I took out the floppy and tried to install another one, when I installed that one the light would stay on and it wouldn't read it still, so I unhooked the 2nd floppy and put it back into the pc I took it out of and now its doing the same thing (power light staying on not reading it) I was told that the cable is on wrong but there is only one way to put it on, have any clue what it could be?

It just about has to be a cable inserted wrong.. I know you said it only goes in one way, but make absolute sure the red wire is in the #1 pin in the floppy connecters.

ok I tried every different way to put in the cable still the light stays on and now I get a floppy error on start up. Could the other pc (the one he's building) mess up the floppy drive, cause the one he started with still does nothing (no lights, no reading) but the known working floppy doesn't work now on either pc.
