amd 64 3000+ (1.8 ghz default)
asus a8v - e deluxe mobo
1 gig ram corsair

recently ive been trying to over clock my cpu. at first i got it up to 9x 230 (2 ghz). but when i put it to 235 it would give me the message "system failure due to overclock"

i then turned "PCIEx clock sync. to CPU" and "PCI Clock sync. to CPU" off. Then i was able to put it up to 9x 260 (2.3ghz).

today i started my pc and it gave me the messege "system failure due to cpu overclock" so i restarted checked the mhz and it was still 2.3.

these are pictures i took of the default bios.

Turn off spread spectrum, and keep the "PCIe clock sync. to CPU" and "PCI clock sync. to CPU" disabled.

Then, find your Hyper-Transport configuration, and change it so that it's at 800MHz. Some allow you to change from like 1000Mhz, 800Mhz, 600Mhz...etc, or some have a divider. If you have a divider, put it at 4x.

Basically you want the HTT link to run as close to 1000MHz as you can, without it going over.

ok i turned off the speed spectrum, but i cant seem to find the Hyper-Transport configuration

on cpu z it says my HTL is 1300.
