For boards, always get DFI, MSI, and Abit. I suggest a MSI Neo2.

Gigabyte K8NSC-939 $82
Athlon 64 3000+ Venice $153

this is $10 more for the combo against the DFI socket 754 + A64 2800+ CPU

Radeon 9600 XT
it is a much better card than the FX-5500

Sony 16x dual layer DVD burner
not new, but it's still a good drive

If you can afford $100 for a GPU, go with the POWERCOLOR R98E-SC3 Radeon 9800SE 128MB 128-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16814131292
Its good performance for money.

all positive feedback???

of course, newegg screens the reviews and takes out many of the negative ones

i've seen reviews where people have claimed that newegg took out their old negative review

also, why do you think the asus a8n, which is a crappy buggy 939 board, has no negative reviews? of course! newegg took them out; since this item is popular, they want to sell as much as they can

I really don't think that u should go 754 as u will soon be limited in grfx cards and for 10 bucks extra u can get 939
