How much is the limit to overclock an Core 2 Duo E6300 With the cooling unit supplied? Ive been heering about 2.5Ghz which is AMD FX-62 performance is this true? OC'ing that much on a stock cooler seems far fetched and so does the performance of a FX-62 Bit.

Thanks

You should be able to get a 2.6 with any e6300 easy, and, if you get a good one, 3.0. With a aftermarkey hsf, you should get 3.0 easy and 3.4 with a good hsf and as5.

Uh not really.....

With the E6300 and these low 7 Multies, It's all about how far your motherboard can go. The e6300 can go far beyond 3.6 3.8 but most motherboards have trouble with 500+ FSB.

Of course with an X6800 and a E6700, It's much easier with the unlocked multi and X10 for the E6700.

Almost all motherboards can do 400 FSB. 400 X 10 = 4.0 GHz.

It's all about the motherboard folks.

2.6Ghz ... with no extra cooling just stock .... ?? 3.6ghz with a good cooler .... ?? would the 2.6 be faster and an ATHLON X2 5000 ?

thanks for the help

WoW and i can overclock it fatser than a X2 5000 without and new cooling just using stock fans. ??

Thanks

With a p5b-deluxe and some good ddr2 800 ram like the xms2 or g.skill's hz series, you should be able to get 3.4 ghz with a e6300.
