difference between these waterblocks

The RBX came out first. The water is sent through the middle nozzle, into the jets, and out the two side barbs. While the TDX came out because many people hate 3 barb blocks (myself included), they are hard to plumb. It has the same design so pretty much the same perofrmance too. So it has the same internal design but the water goes into the jets and onto the center of block and disperses out the sides and meets and exits the block of one barb instead of two.

ok then... what about using the 3 barb block... 1 going to NB and the other going to gpu... would that run any cooler than with just a 2 barb block?

It might help the CPU out a little bit since it will increase flow over running them all in series but it would impact the GPU and chipset worse. Always run your blocks in series. If you split them, your GPU would only have half the flow.
