Artifacts show up as discolored, distorted pixels when playing 3d rendered graphics, nowadays anyways, they are caused by your GPU overheating most of the time, or a dying GPU, can you check your GPU temp? Onboard video chips aren't designed for more than just casual gaming, see if your Nvidia Controls will tell your GPU temp, otherwise you can try downloading a tool like Rivatuner to get your GPU temp, post back your temp if possible.
