the point was about the whole fsb thing and the chipset. not performance

that link only applies to old chipsets though. while they are still based on that kind of logic, the technology is far more advanced and will give you a more varied result in FSB/chipset differences. i see what you mean though...that is the basic logic of FSB/Chipset similarity. I guess if he didn't know that then it would have cleared up a few things...

no i never overclocked before...i haven't really thought about doing it to my new comp. or not....

Via will run fine for stock and even mild overclocks with an XP system. If you are looking for higher overclocks (which you are not) NF2 would be the way to go. I think you made a smart choice if you weren't planning on high overclocks, and trying to save cash (although an Abit NF7-S is only like $80)

Okay get this combo-
For the CPU this mobile 2400 athlon XP is a very good chip- http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-103-439&depa=0
It can easily overclock to 2.4ghz, which is fast for an amd. And since it's mobile it uses less power which in turn means less heat.
For the Mobo get the Abit NF7-S as earlier suggested- http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=13-127-166&depa=0
It has everything you will need to overclock this baby to it's full potential.
And since the cpu is OEM (meaning it doesn't come with accessories) you will need a heatsink and a fan, this one will do you real good- http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=35-106-037&depa=0 And if you order that tonight it's on sale.
