Which CPU Is Better ?

The Athlon XP 2600+ Barton with 512kb L2 cache and a nVidia nForce 2 Ultra 400 motherboard or the Sempron 64 2600+ with 128kb L2 cache and a VIA K8M800 motherboard.

Also how much do you think I could overclock the Sempron 64 with stock cooling and that motherboard ?

i have no idea how far the sempron would overclock but i myself would probably get the sempron. the sempron has all cpu instruction sets and is 64 bit. the sempron is also s754 which gives you slightly more upgradeability and features than socket A.

there are socket A semprons aswell
but yeah, the Sempron listed would be better, with the K8 architecture.

Me personaly for certain reasons would take that xp... But go with the sempron...

athlons r generally better but the sempron is faster in this case. only downside is the really low L2 cache like john said. but the semp will OC pretty well

yeah, I have a Sempron 64. it's a good chip, and extremely stable. but I have crappy RAM, so I don't know how far it will overclock
