i removed the side of my case that has two fans on it to make room for a hd i was reserrecting. but iin the prosses it seems i have lowerd my cpu temp about 7c and rased my case 2c. i am alright with leaving the side off but is the lack of ?airflow? going to hurt other components like vid card hd...?

Depends somewhat on the ambient air in the room. I've had quite a few machines with the side panel off, but yeah you can expect that there is no longer any pressure being formed so an accureate airflow isn't there, so if the room is really hot then the rest of your components are in danger of becoming too hot.
