That link above was very good, lots of detail.

I found others with lots of graphics searching google for "build computer"

You could also download the PDF manual for your motherboard choice and it will layout the whole process (hardware and software) through loading the motherboard drivers.

If some process is not covered in enough detail, you can try the vendor site. Arctic Silver for mounting your processor is a good example.
