Default Building My Dream PC

Hello, I am new to these forums. I am also trying to build a great gaming computer on budget, I'm lookin for a quiet, overclockable(never oc'ed before but im anxious to try), and cool. I have chose these items to build my pc with, and I would like some opinions on if its a good pc build, and all suggestions are welcome.

AMD Athlon 64 (939) 3200+ Winchester core ($190)

MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI NVIDIA nForce4 (only want SLI bc I can't afford a grand graphics card, so I will have to get a decent one for now and when future games catch me lagging, buy another decent one of the same type) ($180)

Corsair XMS (2*512mb) ddr400 dual channel ($176)

Leadtek 6600GT PCI-E ($180) (on second thought it might have been $205......)

Xblades gaming case ($55) or buy a plain old white case, then painting it, adding a side window, putting on graphic designs I seen at xoxide.com, and lots of purdy lights.

Also I would like to know what a good ammount of power would be needed for this system.........What do you all think?

400W+ should be enough for now, but for the future you might want to to buy a 550W, since it is not a huge price jump (usually).

With the case... I'd say definetly get the pre-made one if it has what you want: they are far too hard to get to your standards otherwise

Otherwise, good so far! And good luck building it.

Get a Giga-Byte AMD Motherboard, and you'll be set. Here's one of the best ones. http://www.vibecomputers.com/index.c...f=n&vID=201660 ANd here's the CPU. http://www.vibecomputers.com/index.c...f=n&vID=200002

that case's psu is shet

you're going to need a better psu that will handle your comp later on when you upgrade and if you get a crappy psu, your comp might be unstable/your hardware may be damaged

IMO, pcp&c makes good psus (but they cost too much), i'm really happy with my antec neopower480 (~$130), or you can get a fortron bluestorm 500 (~$100 i think), OCZ powerstreams are nice, or any good (enough amps over 12v) and reliable 24pin psu will do

as for the motherboards, you can either go with the suggested gigabyte mobo, or you can go with this one (this mobo will overclock way better than the gigabyte one)

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...136-152&depa=0

as for your hard drive, go with this one (i doubt you'll need more than 80 gigs)
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...135-106&depa=0

for you cd/dvd/cd-r/w/dvd-r/w drive, use this one

also, if you plan on overclocking, i suggest you to get after market cooling:

[GPU]
NV silencer 6

Zalman 700 (out of stock tho)

[CPU]
Zalman 7700

XP-120

XP-90

thx for the help every1, and desi, thx for suggesting the mobo, but its like 50 bucks more than the msi, and im on quite a tight budget, and for the fx-55, in my dreams, I have 300 bucks, ill be getting 50 bucks a month in allowence, and im gonna have to work my *** off to pay for the rest (working on getting a job, although I think being 16 and never having a job before, and living where i live i just might end up at a mcdonalds....i know sounds bad but i think it will pay off when i get it build).

I just checked on the DFI mobo, but I dont know much about the company's or the mobo for the matter rep. Also, it doesnt support SLI by the looks of it, and i was hoping to get one that had SLI so i dont have to buy an expensive video card when i upgrade from the 6600gt in the future to have a good gaming experience bc future games at this rate are gonna need some powerful hardware to keep up. i could always skip SLI though if some1 can convince me otherwise that this plan is not a wise one.
