build a computer for home recording studio

Hello. I am in need of some information (-: I am in a computer hardware class. Our teacher has given us an assignment to build a 'bleeding edge' computer to use with a home recording studio for a "customer". We have a $6000 budget. He told us to look into raid and scsi etc. Do any of you have any ideas for me??? We need software to make a pretty girl's UGLY voice sound good (-: That was one of his stipulations (-: (Our teacher has a good sense of humor!!) Any help would be fabulous - Thanks!

Pro tools!!! Its heavly used by almost everyone lol. The software only works with the hardware. Its by a company called DigiDesign. One of the moderatly priced home systems I can recomend is the Digi 002. The mixer itself runs to about $2500 and comes with the pro tools software. There are some cool videos of the hardware on the pro tools' website. Check out www.protools.com for more stuff about the software and hardware. This software is simple to use, fast, and I've seen it make some pretty crappy bands sound good ! My friend owns a studio and he use to run everything off a standard mixing board and then through pro tools, but now he just runs everything right though pro tools.

Some other affordable software would be Cakewalk. I didn't like this program personally but alot of people do. There are some cheap 100-200 dollar programs out there that are simple to use. Hope this helps!
