what games is he going to play

btw, that 9600 isn't gonna cut it unless he's playing old games like wc3 and sc

9600pro 128 is what i think im getting now.

Games like CS:s, WoW, doom3.

This card was said to run them smooth.

1. I would look at a DVD/CD burner.

2. I would get a separate PSU-maybe the 480 or 550 Antec
TruePower.

3. I would go with 1Gig of RAM.

4. I would step up to the XP3000+ (about $25-$30 more).

5. That graphics card is only going to get your foot in the door,
I had the Gigabyte 9600Pro. There are more informed folks on
this forum that can recommend a card but I would reconsider.

These are just my opinions but if I could only change 2 things I
would change the power supply and add more ram.

Well we cant do much without majorly increasing the price but here's a few things

Buy a 2400+ mobile processor, these thigns OC very high, and since their for a 266 FSB you wont have issues with overclocking your ram. One of these baby's with some generic ram overclocked can compete with a 3.6ghz p4

Buy a cheaper case, and get a half decent power supply such as a thermaltake td-420ad, this is a good power supply that is very budget efficent.

Yea ive heard a couple things about the power supply but, ive been using this power supply on a similar mod for around a year now. ill look into OC'ing im not to hot there wouldent know what do to. All i know is how to get there i dont know the equations for the FSB and how to set it a lower multiplier.
