Best Motherboard For E8400?

I am really planning on buying an E8400 and iv decided not to get watercooling so ill have alot more money to spend on the case/motherboard etc.

Should i pay more to get a better motherboard or just stick with the DS3L that i have in mind?

How good is this motherboard?

DFI is awesome. They're great when it comes to ocing ram too cause it supplies 5v to the dimms. Your DS3L is still good too.

Yeah im not touching my ram.. because my ram isn't really that good.

I would wait just a little while. i dont know if you saw the thread about the e8400 heat problems. I will be able to contribute to that as soon as my new asus maximus formula gets here.(tues baby)

But from what I have read, the most likely problem is the temp sensors are not being read correctly. So like I said, I hopefully will be able to help you first hand. But if you are not scared to drop some dough, I say go with the x38. Great support for the newer stuff, or maybe a p35, tried and true

What do you want to do? Overclock, SLI, Crossfire?

P35 is a great overall motherboard for overclocking at a decent price, for single cards.
X38 if you want crossfire.
680i/780i if you want SLI.

I dont know about the 780i... but both me a veedub got crappy 680i's the first time around....I don't really recommend the mobo...

But idk how the 780i is.

I was going to move to an X38 myself but I might or might not crossfire so whats the point. Have it just to have it. You should stick w/ P35 if your using single card.

the 780i is the exact same board as he 680i, with a few compatibility upgrades.
