the title speaks for itself i need a killer cpu but only got about 200 bucks

go to www.newegg.com and search around, but first what type of cpu does your MB support, AMD or INTEL?

im building a new computer and my mobo (not changing it) is socket 939

I would personally save an extra $33 and get the AMD 64 3700+ San Diego because of it's larger L2 cache, plus it will overclock better than a 3500+ will.

Opteron 144...will most likely overclock better than anything else mentioned...it's also pretty much the same core as the San Diego so you don't have to buy a more expensive core just for the larger cache size

i personally agree the amd 64 3700 on newegg for 230$$ will kill the 3500

Whoever said they were bad for gaming? They simply weren't considered for gaming in the past due to socket 940 being a much too expensive road to take due to ECC memory

Look at the FX series of processors, they are currently classified as AMDs gaming stream of processors and they were originally derived from the Opteron
