Athlon xp 2900 equivalence

I've heard a lot about AMD giving their cpu's ratings, like an athlon 64 3200+ = Pentium 4 3.2 GHz, is an Athlon XP 2900 = to a pentium 4 2.9 GHz?

It's more of an average, as a AMD 64 3000 is alot better than a 3ghz P4 in games, but the Intel would slughter the AMD in decoding for instance.

Yes, some poeple will argue the rating system isn't a comparison between Intel processors, and that is true to an extent. The rating system refers to how AMDs perform in comparison to other x86 processors, not specifically Intel, but Intel really is the only other x86 company out there and benchmarks agree with the rating system anyways.
