I must have read it wrong... although it would have explained your problems.
So to get it working did you just have to turn off the spread spectrum?

Pentium 4 2.8 with M0 stepping.
Only air cooling tho

But I also changed the mem settings to the most conservative before I began cranking them for performance (one step at a time).

I believe I had tried the spread spectrum set to DISABLE before with no luck.....not sure exactly what happened to be honest ;-)

nice to see you fixed it. falconer just to clarify your xp2500 does not run at 2.5Ghz, but is an equivalent of a pent4 2.5Ghz version B processor with 533Mhz FSB. so don't think you are being screwed with not having 2.5Ghz
