well just cuz they're going faster doesn't mean it's gonna keep the cpu the coolest, because of the air pressure, as patonb says. maybe having them go faster is gonna create an area of stale air around the CPU, so having one go fast while the other goes slower would off set the area, there's plenty of possibilities.
