They already have a 3.8ghz with 800fsb, and I think I read in one of my dentist's random magazines that the newest P4EE outpreformes the 3.8, but doesn't outpreform the fx-55.

formatted, nubius? how come? was it just "that time" again?
Yeah it was 'that time' but also I ordered a new 80gb SATA drive (not 10K RPM though, just wanted faster transfer)

But yeah I probably format more than normal people :D

I like to keep my computer really fresh.

I should point out though that this question:

ok whats the best amd athlon processor

is a little bit off. Athlon is a specific kind of processor, a processor that came before Athlon XP's.

AMD is the company not 'AMD athlon' just to clear that up ;)

Ok, the 570J is the 3.80 GHz Pentium 4. Secondly, I don't know what magazine your talkin' about, but every online reviewer shows the 570J outperforming the P4EE 3.46 GHz and pretty much tieing with the FX-55 when ti becomes a personal perference issue and this isn't uncoomon either as processor wars have usually been neck in neck.

This topic is going no where.
FX55 for games.
570J for applications.

The best i think out of the 2 for me is the FX55 you ask why. Ok they both perform neck and neck, one section making up for the other like the 570J makes up in applications for games and the FX55 makes up in the games for applications right. Now with temperatures the FX55 runs much less hotter than the 570J and you see allot more of FX55 on top of the hall of fame in futuremark than 570J's.

I know that isnÂ’t really a good reason to say that the FX55 is better but in such a close race between the 2 any little thing counts.

All around the FX55 and the 570J are neck and neck from what i read. Gaming the FX55 takes the lead. And i would imaine in something like video editing the 570J takes the lead. If you play games go with the FX55, if this is for work or some multi-media app i say go with the Intel if you want the best performnce in that area. Personally i would go with the FX55 for both situations, as the Intel might win a few benches...the speed difference and overall difference will not be so noticable. Overclocked the FX55 will probably still match the Intel in the benches it wins stock. I dont know how well the 570J overclocks...

The 570J is able to pass 4 GHz on the stock heatsink. Thanks for agreeing with me, 4W4K3. I think that if you are a gamer who uses power apps occasionally, then go FX-55. If you are a power app user and play games occasionally then go 570J. Secondly, the P4 EE, actually any P4EE pitched against a 570J gets beat by the 570J. Everyone knows that the extra L3 cache is just for show.

Alright, folks the 570J is on E0 stepping and this will allow you to overclock to 4+ GHz w/o seeing a dramatic increase in temps. The E0 stepping has better heat reduction. The other Prescotts w/o the J suffix are on the D0 stepping which was the firsti n the line of LGA775 Prescotts and it allows for decent ocs.

If you want a good athlon 64 proccesor now that's a lot more affordable that the 3800+/4000+/FX-53/55 I'd recommend the 3500+, it's a lot cheaper than the 3800+ and you won't see too much of a difference in performance. I think the only difference is the 3800+ is clocked high (2.4Ghz[I think]) and has a larger cache (1MB) rather the 3500+ clocked at 2.2Ghz with a 512k cache.

The 3800+ is 2400/2000/512 and the 4000+ 2400/2000/1024 and the FX-53 is 2400/2000/1024 --> Unlocked Multiplier and the FX-55 is 2600/2000/1024 --> Unlocked Multiplier. The 3500+ is 2200/2000/512. Best bang is 3500+ Winchester.
