Hmm the stock Q6600 cooler has Thermal Paste already on it right? Because I didn't apply any extra. If I take off the HSF and reseat it do I have to reapply thermal paste? I just got a reading of 100 degrees celsius after an ATTEMPT to play crysis on medium settings and 1680 x 1050 resolution. The game just crashed and the CPU turned off.

If you're getting temps that high, I would seriously suggest not using the PC until you fix it. IF It can actually support being run at 100*C it won't take long at all to fry it.

Take the HSF off and clean the bottom and put new thermal grease on and make sure it is properly secured to the board.

Okay sounds good. Just to be sure could you define properly secured? At the moment it sits quite tight as in the HSF cannot be wiggled much.
