Is there anyway to change the PCI Express slots so that they will run at 16X rather then their regular 8X? I just want to know for future reference. I have checked the BIOS, but have found nothing.
i dont think so. it think it has to be 16x hardware to be able to use it. 16x is backward compatible of course but i dont think its the other way. not 100% sure tho
I have a PCI Express X16, which my card is in right now, but there are two slots for SLI, but they are rated at 8X. So what you are saying nitestick, is that it doesn't really matter?
It probably doesn't run at 16x when your in SLI mode, so I guess in SLI each is running at 8x. With one PCI-e card it runs at the full 16x.
Maybe your mobo doesn't support 16x in SLI mode?
From what I understand there are only a few (2) mobo's with true 16x in SLI The mobo I have is one of them and I can't remember the other one right now.
really you won't notice the difference because only Turbo Cache an Hyper Memory cards use more than 8x bandwidth, thats because most of their memory is borrowed from the system memory
