whats the 8800Gt compared to the 8800GTX?
Since you've been out of the game for awhile here's an update for you. The 8800GT is a 65nm revision with 112 shaders compared to the GTS 96 and GTX 128.
Since it's 65nm it runs cooler and comes clocked higher....only downside is that it comes with a 256bit memory interface with either 256m or 512mb. This is compared to the GTS 320bit interface with 320mb/640mb and the GTX 384 bit interface with 768mb.
Important bits to answer your question:
Fortunately, the 256bit memory interface doesn't seem to hamper performance and the 8800GT significantly outperforms the 8800GTS. It is only right behind the GTX in terms of performance and with overclocking can certainly FAR outperform a stock GTX (no surprise really)
There will also be a rev. 2 8800GTS coming out based on the G92 65nm core (from the 8800GT)...it will be basically idential to an 8800GT but will sport the 320bit memory interface from the previous generation 8800GTS. It is also said to be clocked much higher and is rumoured to outperform the current 8800GTX.
Yes they will also be coming out with a rev. 2 8800GTX. Confusing as he11, I know. no idea how i just typed that all out.
