800FSB chip on 500FSB board

Can a 800FSB P4 be used on a 500FSB motherboard?

Yes it should the only diff would be it would be dwnclocked to a 500mhz fsb.

I wouldent dare try that. If you do that your gonna burn your mobo out quickly. That mobo will not handle those speeds..

yes it will it will just dwnclock the cpu. it worx that way w/ all cpus/mobos

i would buy a new mobo altogether. You get so a much higher peformance increase on a 800fsb board.
